The design team at Oriental Weavers Hospitality help make my ideas
come to life. It is a process that unfolds organically, through collaborative
exploration with their team. We depend on the quick turnaround of
design work and OW consistently pushes to meet our time frames.
The use of large-scale Simulated Prints helps me get a feel for design
scale and with the addition of samples, solidifies our concepts when
presenting to our clients.
The casinos that LSE Architects develops have concepts rooted in the
land, history and vision of the owners. Carpet becomes an integral part
to the overall feel of the facility. For some, we build in cues to a logo. The
carpet design for Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota incorporates
the texture of the earthen track, with a subtle nod to the horse figure in
the corporate logo. This design evolved from a literal interpretation of an
image to something more abstracted, surprising the eye, when noticed.
A jewel of a lake in north central Minnesota inspired the water element in
this design. This area that surrounds the Cedar Lakes Casino and Hotel in
Cass Lake, MN, is owned and operated by the Leech Lake Band of
Ojibewe. I wanted to pull in the natural beauty of the lake area, so
important to the tribe.
The design team at Oriental Weavers Hospitality helped develop several
themes that spoke to the fields of wild rice and the vastness of the blue
sky. In the end, we were called by the beauty of the lake, the depth of
coloring in the deep blue and frothy greens of the waves.
Manufactured in an Axminster tile construction, I am confident the carpet
will look vibrant and fresh for many years to come.
